(BEDFORD) - A Bedford man was sentenced Thursday to 12 years in prison on meth charges.

Woods pleaded guilty during plea agreements in December to a class B felony charge of dealing meth. He also pleaded guilty in April to possession of meth, a Level 6 felony.

In exchange for the plea deal the state dropped felony charges of possession of meth, maintaining a common nuisance and a misdemeanor charge of possession of drug paraphernalia.

Lawrence County Superior Court II Judge William Sleva sentenced 26-year-old Joshua Woods to 8 years in the Department of Corrections for dealing meth, with two years suspended. Those two years will be served on probation. He will also participate in a therapeutic program in prison and will participate in ADAPT while on probation.

On the second plea agreement, Wood was sentenced to two years in prison.

The sentences will be served consecutively.

According to probable cause affidavits, Woods was arrested after a confidential informant purchased a fourth of gram of meth for $45 from Woods on January 5, 2014. He was arrested and charged with dealing meth, possession of meth and maintaining a common nuisance.

Then on February 28, 2015, Lawrence County police arrested Woods on a warrant for petition to modify house arrest after they pulled his vehicle over near Leatherwood Road. During that traffic stop police found Woods had meth and drug paraphernalia in his pockets. He was charged with possession of meth and possession of drug paraphernalia.
