Woman Arrested After Pursuit, Speeds Top 80 Miles Per Hour

(SPRINGVILLE) - A Noblesville woman was arrested after she failed to stop for a Lawrence County Police.

According to a police report, the officers attempted to stop 49-year-old Katrina Saunders for a speeding violation at Sieboldt Quarry Road at 7:39 p.m. on Monday.

Saunders refused to pull over her silver 4-door Toyota and continued traveling south on Sieboldt Quarry and then headed south on Harrodsburg Road. She then traveled south on Springville Judah Road traveling at 70 miles per hour. She then went westbound on Popcorn Road, then south on Popcorn Church Road. She continued east on State Road 54, where speeds reached more than 80 mph. From there she entered Springville and continued south on Old Farm Road.

From there the pursuit continued west onto State Road 158 and then north on Highwater Road. She then continued to travel south on Indian Creek Road and then back east on State Road 54 again topping 80 mph, then back north on Old Farm Road to Brick Street. She continued north on Brick Street and passed the Springville Store and went north on Springville Judah Road and then north on Harrodsburg Road and west on Wells Lane.

The pursuit continued north on Spencer Pike Road to Popcorn Road where she traveled east into Monroe County turning north onto Old Ind. 37. At 10:23 p.m. a Monroe County officer was able to place stop sticks in the road near the Starlite Drive-In.

Saunders ran over those stop sticks, causing her tires to go flat, but continued north on Old Ind. 37 approaching Ind. 37 when a Lawrence County officer "pitted" her vehicle causing her to wreck just before Ind. 37.

Saunders then ran from the vehicle and officers gave chase and caught her a short distance from the crash site.

The officer noted in his report that during the pursuit, Saunders was reaching around in the front of her vehicle for something.

Saunders was arrested on charges of possession of meth, operating a vehicle while intoxicated on a controlled substance, operating a vehicle while intoxicated endangerment, resisting arrest by fleeing, resisting arrest by force, possession of drug paraphernalia, wanted was wanted on a warrant for failure to appear.
