Rivers Will Reach Record Crest Levels This Weekend

Last updated on Thursday, July 16, 2015

(UNDATED) - Many of Indiana’s rivers will reach record crest levels by this weekend.

They have not been that high since July 1979.

National Weather Service forecasters say flood warnings remain in effect for 18 rivers including Eagle Creek, East Fork of White, Muscatatuck, Wabash and White rivers.

They caution significant flooding will develop along the Muscatatuck, White and East Fork White Rivers in southern Indiana by this weekend.

The storms that passed through Monday dumped as much as 6 inches to the already saturated ground.

Indiana Conservation officers are caution motorists not to drive into flood water and be alert to changing river conditions over the next few days.
