(BEDFORD) - The Lawrence County Council voted to allocate $420,000 for the replacement of Bridge 82 on Judah Logan Road over Salt Creek on Tuesday night.
According to the meeting minutes, David Holmes, superintendent of county highways, requested $270,000 from the Cumulative Bridge Fund and $150,000 from the Cumulative Capital Fund to pay for the work.
Commissioner Bill Spreen's request was granted an additional $30,000 from the CAGIT Fund for maintenance costs at the courthouse.
Sheriff Mike Branham received permission from the salary committee to hire replacements for two recently departed officers.
Dave Redman, director of Purdue Extension Lawrence County, asked and received authority to replace a part-time secretary who is leaving.
