ISP Has Issued More Than 100 Warnings To Drivers Driving Too Slow

Last updated on Thursday, July 9, 2015

(UNDATED) - Indiana State Police have issued more than 100 warnings to motorist driving too slow.

A new law giving police the ability to pull over and fine slow left-lane drivers took effect last week.

Indiana State Police spokesman Todd Ringle says those warnings are going to the most blatant violators, including one driver who moved into the left lane to be ready for a turnoff that was four miles away.

Some legislators who opposed the law noted it would mean giving tickets to drivers for following the speed limit.

But Ringle says state police are concentrating on warnings for now to educate people about the law.

When troopers do begin issuing tickets, the fine can be as high as $500.
