Greene County 4-H Fair Opens This Weekend

(SWITZ CITY) - The Greene County 4-H Fair opens this weekend.

The Greene County Daily World reports The Greene County 4-H Fair opens this weekend.

Besides some of the crowd-favorite events such as the demolition derby, hog wrestling competition, baby contests, and cooking contest, it is a chance for local 4-Hers to show off their hard work.

The fair runs from Saturday, July 11 through Saturday, July 18.

One of the biggest changes to this year's 4-H Fair will be the opening of the new Greene County Community Building. The first day the Greene County Community Building will be open is on Saturday at 1 p.m., for the public to view 4-H projects. On Sunday, the Community Building will hold an official ribbon cutting ceremony, outside of the west entrance at noon.

The Farm Bureau Commercial Building will also host a variety of events throughout the week. On Saturday, the Farm Bureau Commercial Building will officially open at 5 p.m. Businesses and organizations from around Greene County will have booths set up and will provide information and free giveaways.

Throughout the week there will also be free musical entertainment at the Commercial Building from local artists.

One of the first events was the crowning of this year's Miss Greene County, Courtney Johnson. Johnson, the daughter of Troy and Carol Johnson, and is a graduate of Linton-Stockton High School, and currently a sophomore at Indiana State University.
