(LAKE MONROE) - Flooding-related issues have caused Lake Monroe officials to close areas of the lake.

As of Thursday the beaches at both Paynetown and Fairfax are closed.

The Activity Center is closed at Paynetown. Evening programs will go on as scheduled on Saturday night - visitors can check with the campground gatehouse for updates on where the events will be held.

The marina is closed at Paynetown. The shuttle is still available for boat owners with a buy or dock. Boat owners are asked to park at the service area and staff will assist you in reaching your boat.

A select number of campsites in the B-loop at Paynetown SRA have been closed. The campsites are not themselves flooded, but officials are using these sites to install a temporary dock for the Marina shuttle so officials can continue to shuttle people to and from their docks/buoys at the Paynetown Marina which is flooded.

If you had a reservation for one of these affected campsites, you will be notified by phone and your money will be refunded. Again, though, this is just a very limited closure of campsites to accommodate the temporary dock for the shuttle.

All other facilities are open and operating normally.

As of Thursday morning, the lake level was 10.1 feet above normal pool, but raising rapidly.

Officials anticipate that the lake will rise at least another 3 feet.
