Eastern Greene Schools Taking Actions Against Outstanding Fees

Last updated on Thursday, July 16, 2015

(EASTERN GREENE) - Outstanding textbook fees is a problem and the Eastern Greene School Corporation say nearly $28,000 is due in outstanding textbook fees.

Superintendent Ted Baechtold explained the school corporation has reached more than $90,000 in outstanding fees over the four years.

"It really hurts our school and it hurts our students when we don't have that funding available," Baechtold told the Greene County Daily World.

The school board passed a motion to send a final billing notice out to those with outstanding fees. Then, if no action is taken further action will be taken through small claims court. The school urges those with fees to contact them to work out a payment plan to fit your budget.

In other actions:

The school board approved the adjusted list of textbooks and fees for the upcoming school year. The overall textbook cost will be lower than past years due to the use of more consumable textbooks.

The board voted to increase the cost of school meals by a nickel and middle school and high school student meals will increase a dime. The increase was needed to help the school reach the federal guidelines for lunch prices, which will allow the school access to more funding.
