(BLOOMFIELD) - After serving the Eastern Greene School Corporation for 18 years, High School Principal Kevin Frank turned in his resignation to pursue other career opportunities.

The Greene County Daily World reports, Frank has accepted a job opportunity to serve as Assistant Superintendent for the Washington Community School Corporation.

"It's not easy to leave," said Frank. "I spent 18 years in one place because I love it here. I just see it as a career move."

After accepting his resignation, the members of the school board expressed their gratitude for Frank's years of dedication to the school and wished him the best of luck in his future.

"Our students have been given such great opportunities and that is largely because of you and I want to thank you personally for that," said School Board President Mike Adams.

One particular project Frank dedicated much of his time and efforts to has been the start of an Early College program for the school corporation. During the special session, the board approved a motion agreeing into a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Ivy Tech Community College to establish an Early Education Program.

Baechtold said Eastern Greene is the first school in the area to partake in this type of program with Ivy Tech, which will allow students to partake in a more advanced set of courses in order to obtain an Associates Degree with the completion of their High School Diploma.

This program will take place during the upcoming school year. Many incoming seniors are already enrolled in the courses for the upcoming school year, and that number is expected to double the following year.
