(BLOOMFIELD) - The Family Life Center of Greene County, Indiana in Bloomfield will begin to distribute Mister Bucks Rescue Blend Pet Food to people who are having difficulties affording to feed their pets.
Family Life's motto is "Developing relationships that impact a community through supporting families."
Bloomfield Supply is one of the company's largest sellers of the food. Each sale helps support donations to those in need.
The Greene County Daily World reports, Pet Food Company, which sells its brand as "Rescue Blend," was started to provide, good quality food at an affordable price for companion animals. The company does not use traditional marketing, instead donates food to groups in need instead.
"It has caused financial struggles and challenges," say Operations Manager Effie Williams, "but it's worth the outcome."
The company also carries its philosophy over to people as well, employing non-violent convicts and ex-convicts to provide a stable environment in hopes of creating a smoother transition into the community.
The company works with Greene County Community Corrections and has seen the effort payoff.
"I didn't know what I was going to do," says John Sullivan who is on Work Release following a 5 year stay in prison for drug related charges, "but I look forward to coming to work, doing new and different things and being a participant in the company. No one judges my by my past."
According to Williams, the staff at Greene County Community Corrections is invested in the programs success. "The case managers stop by and check on the employees, it makes for a very successful partnership." Williams said.
Even company president Jon Saldivar-Kitto has spent some time in jail.
"People forgave me for my transgressions and gave me a second chance, that's our mission.....with pets and people," Saldivar-Kitto said.
The pet food can be found at Bloomfield Supply & Hardware in Bloomfield and each purchase helps fund the company programs.
