(BEDFORD) - A Bedford man was sentenced to eight and a half years for failing to report to Community Corrections and for being a habitual offender.
Lawrence County Superior Court Judge Michael Robbins sentenced Jesse Craig on Friday.
Craig was found guilty by a jury of escape after he was not at an address he provided to Community Corrections.
After being found guilty to that felony charge, Craig pled guilty to being a habitual offender.
Deputy Prosecutor Michelle Jerrells told Judge Robbins that Craig has been convicted of 12 felony offenses which began when he was a juvenile.
Craig has violated probation, house arrest and electronic monitoring numerous times. Jerrells asked the judge to consider a sentence that does not include any suspended time on probation.
Judge Robbins ordered Craig to serve the maximum sentence of two and a half years for the escape charge and imposed the maximum sentence of six years for being a habitual offender. The sentences are to be served consecutive to time being served in Martin County and one he is serving in Orange County.
