(MITCHELL) - A Bedford man was arrested after a Lawrence County Police officer saw his vehicle parked on Moose Lane, west of Mitchell, early this morning.

According to Sheriff Mike Branham, LCPD Sgt. Lonnie Johnson was patrolling the area when he noticed the driver of the vehicle flash his headlights.

Johnson stopped to talk to the driver, 20-year-old Kody Moody of Bedford.

That is when Johnson discovered Moody was wanted on warrants for fraud and theft. While Johnson was placing Moody in handcuffs, Moody attempted to throw a pack of cigarettes on the ground out of the officer's sight.

Johnson recovered the cigarettes and found 0.4 grams of meth and hydrocodone pills inside.

Moody was then arrested on additional charges of possession of meth and possession of a schedule II controlled substance.

Moody was booked into the Lawrence County Security Center at 1:32 a.m. and is being held without bond because he is on probation for an April 16 arrest of possession of meth and a controlled substance, maintaining a common nuisance and possession of drug paraphernalia.
