(BEDFORD) - Lawrence County will be recognized on September 14th, 2016 during Indiana’s Bicentennial Torch Relay and needs a torchbearer.

The 92 County Indiana Bicentennial Torch Relay is a momentous event designed to honor and celebrate Indiana's 200 year history.

The torch will be primarily transported by people, passing the flame from torchbearer to torchbearer.

Currently, the route is projected to run from Dubois County, into Orange County and then arrive in Lawrence County on its way east into Jackson County.

Patterned after the Olympic Torch Relay, Indiana's version will pass through all 92 of the state's counties, cover 2300 miles over a five week period, averaging 72 miles per day.
