(UNDATED) - Indiana State Health Officials are still looking for patient zero in the HIV outbreak that has been tearing through the southeastern portion of the state.
Officials say finding patient zero is very important to understand the scope of the outbreak.
While most of the people affected are drug users who shared contaminated needles, 10 current cases are from people who have identified themselves as commercial sex workers, who work at truck stops along I-65.
With half of the $2-million emergency fund already spent, State Officials are also currently working with doctors and hospitals in the area to expand HIV-testing so it will be covered by insurance or the Healthy Indiana program.
