Man Dies After Fall From Horse At Harrison-Crawford State Forest

(CORYDON) - Indiana Conservation Officers are investigating the death of a Harrison County man that occurred at Harrison-Crawford State Forest near Corydon on Thursday morning.

Shortly before noon, 56-year-old Richard Scott of Corydon was horseback riding on a trail just outside of O'Bannon Woods State Park when he fell from his horse and became unresponsive.

Scott's brother, and his sister-in-law, who were riding with him, called 911 and began CPR. Minutes later, O'Bannon Woods State Park personnel and an Indiana Conservation Officer arrived and took over performing CPR until Harrison County Paramedics arrived.

Efforts to revive Scott were unsuccessful. According to the Harrison County Coroner's Office, the cause of death was cardiac arrest.

Assisting agencies at the scene included the Harrison County Sheriff's Department, Harrison County EMS, and O'Bannon Woods State Park personnel.
