Last updated on Monday, June 15, 2015

(MEDORA) - Police have tied a Kentucky man to theft of farm equipment and a mower that occurred in late May in the western part of Jackson County.

Police arrested 31-year-old Robert Lawson of Jeffersontown, Kentucky on a felony theft charge after a Toro zero-turn riding mower was reportedly taken from White River Ag in Medora and was found at his home.

Lawson, who has family that lives in Jackson County, currently is being held at Adair County Jail in Columbia, Kentucky on unrelated charges.

The case remains under investigation.

Jackson County Sheriff Michael Carothers says one farm and one business had expensive farm and mowing equipment stolen and the crimes are likely connected.

The pieces include zero-turn riding lawn mowers and farm tractors with a value of more than $53,000.

Sheriff Carothers believes the equipment was driven from the scenes and then loaded up onto a trailer.
