Jackson County Inmate Facing More Charges After Officers Find Homemade Knife

(BROWNSTOWN) - An inmate being held on drug charges at the Jackson County Jail faces an additional charge after a jailer said a homemade knife was found in his cell.

32-year-old Areli Rivera of Seymour is facing a charge of possession of a dangerous device or material as a prisoner, a Level 4 felony, after the weapon was found during a search of his cell Monday night, according to a news release from the Jackson County Sheriff's Department.

Rivera initially was booked into the jail in Brownstown on May 11 on charges of possession of meth and possession of marijuana. He was being held on a $2,005 bond.
