(BEDFORD) - A Huron woman was arrested on a warrant for dealing Suboxone.

Suboxone has become widely used as a replacement for methadone because it can be prescribed by doctors in their offices. Suboxone is used to treat narcotic (opiate) addiction.

According to a probable cause affidavit, Lawrence County Police received information from a confidential informant that 32-year-old Nicole Gilstrap was dealing Suboxone strips.

Police arranged two controlled drug buys between the informant and Gilstrap.

Police say Gilstrap did have a prescription for buprenorphine, which is one of the ingredients used in Suboxone.

According to jail records, Gilstrap was arrested Wednesday afternoon on a warrant for dealing a scheduled III controlled substance and maintaining a common nuisance. She posted a $755 cash bond Wednesday night and was released from jail.
