(SEYMOUR) - Five people were injured in a three-vehicle crash on I-65 in Seymour Monday afternoon.

According to Indiana State Police Trooper Matt Holley, around 3:32 p.m. 38-year-old Kara Terrell-Curtis of Avon was traveling south in a 1998 Honda Civic south on I-65 at the 55 mile marker, when she drove into the back of a 2012 Ford van being driven by 36-year-old Michael Moberly of Lawrenceburg, Kentucky.

The Ford van was pushed into the rear of a 2003 Kenworth tractor pulling a 2001 Reit trailer that was operated by 63-year-old Jose Rodriguez of East Chicago, Indiana.

"The driver of the green Honda did not slow down and is believed to have run at speed into the back of the white van." Trooper Holley stated,.

Moberly and three other people in the van were injured as well as Terrell-Curtis, who suffered serious injuries and had to be freed from her vehicle by Seymour firefighters. She was flown by medical helicopter to St. Vincent in Indianapolis.

Moberly, 27-year-old Brandon Jeffries and 49-year-old John Perry both complained of back pain. 21-year-old Neal Banta suffered a possible fracture to his arm. All three were transported by ambulance to Schneck Medical Center.

Rodriguez was not injured.

Traffic was backed up on I-65 south as motorists were funneling to one lane at a construction site near the 50 mile marker.

Trooper Holley was assisted at the scene by Trooper Stephen Wheeles, Jackson County EMS and Seymour Fire Department.
