(SALEM) - Several fire departments helped Monroe Township battle a blaze at Wheeler Sawmill on State Road 135 North Thursday night.
According to Max Gamble of the Monroe Township Volunteer Fire Department, when firefighters arrived they found a large pile of logs on fire in the sawmill yard. No structures were on fire.
Assisting putting out the large fire was firefighters from Monroe Township, Salem Washington, Gibson Township, Jefferson Township and Driftwood fire departments.
Firefighters used more than 4,500 gallons of water to extinguish the blaze.
Washington County EMS was at the scene and the Washington County Sheriff's Department helped with traffic control.
