Bloomington Police Investigating Assault Of Toddler

Last updated on Monday, June 1, 2015

(BLOOMINGTON) - Bloomington police were called to the Texas Roadhouse Thursday night after a patron called police to report abuse of a toddler.

According to the patron, a man and woman hit the toddler in the mouth and pinched his cheeks and upper thigh.

They then left the restaurant, but the patron was able to write down the vehicle's license plate.

Bloomington Police Capt. Joe Qualters says officers were able to trace that license plate number to a home in Martinsville. Officers then contacted Morgan County Sheriff deputies, who went and checked on the male toddler.

Deputies say the toddler had no visible injuries.

When asked why they had pinched the boy, the man told police they were trying to teach the boy not to cry in public and he may have grabbed the toddler's arm, but didn't hit him.

The case remains under investigation, and officials from the Department of Child Services were contacted and investigating the incident.
