Bloomfield Mourning Death Of Councilman

(BLOOMFIELD) - The town of Bloomfield is mourning the death of a respected councilman and CEO.

56-year-old Eric Alan Harrah of Bloomfield passed away Wednesday, at his home surrounded by his family.

Harrah was a current member of the Bloomfield Town Council. He was also President and CEO of Bloomfield Manufacturing Company.

Harrah was the 2009 recipient of the Harvey Hanna Award. He was a member of the Linton First Christian Church, as well as the Linton Elks.

He is described by his loved ones as a man of faith, a businessman, a community leader, and an inventor having seven patents, two of which were utility patents.

Harrah was born on April 17, 1959, in Indianapolis, the son of Phillip Jack Harrah and Margaret D. (Doll) Harrah.

Surviving relatives include his wife of thirty five years, Tammy Harrah of Bloomfield, his children, Eric Austin Harrah (and wife Alicia Holt) of Bloomfield, Lyndal K. (Jordan) Schantz of Greenwood and Whitney Christine (Robbie) Hostetter of Bloomfield, four grandchildren, Farrah Kay Hostetter, Penny Margaret Hostetter, Jordan Warner Schantz and Nora Grace Schantz, two sisters, Diane H. (Gerald) Ortman, Vanessa (and husband Camilo Montano) Harrah and several nieces and nephews.

Eric was preceded in death by a sister, Lyndal A. Harrah, his father Philip Jack Harrah and his mother Margaret D. Harrah.

Funeral services are scheduled at 3 p.m. on Sunday, June 28, at the First Christian Church in Linton with Pastor Archie Ellett officiating. Burial will follow at Grandview Cemetery in Bloomfield.

Visitation for friends will be from 3 to 7 p.m. on Saturday, June 27 at Jenkins Funeral Home in Bloomfield.

In lieu of flowers, the family wishes donations be made to the Linton First Christian Church or the Family Life Center in Bloomfield.
