Bedford Man Sentenced To 15 Years For Child Molesting

Last updated on Wednesday, June 24, 2015

(BEDFORD) - A Bedford man has pled guilty to child molesting.

According to court records, Dustin Mills entered the guilty plea Tuesday.

Superior Court I Judge Michael Robbins sentenced 35-year-old Mills, of 4856 State Road 158, to 15 years with the Department of Correction with four years suspended. He will serve 3 years on supervised probation and one year on unsupervised probation. He will have to serve one year on electronic monitoring.

Robbins also ordered the standard terms and conditions of probation, along with special terms for sex offenders. Mills is to have no contact with the victim.

The grandparents of the child testified that Mills had violated the female victim since she was nine or 10-years-old.

The paternal grandmother, who has custody of the victim, says the girl is going to counseling but now at 13, who was once an honor student, is now having problems in school and suffers from an eating disorder. She has also became aggressive toward other children.

Mills did apologize for his actions.

Mills was arrested after Lawrence County Police were notified on Christmas Eve that the grandmother of one of his victims found sexually explicit messages and photographs on her granddaughter's cell phone and conversations between Mills and the girl were found on Facebook.

According to a probable cause affidavit, those messages suggest Mills and the girl had engaged in sexual relations.
