Two Bowfishermen Rescued After Boat Takes On Water

Last updated on Thursday, May 14, 2015

(HUNTINGBURG) - Two Huntingburg residents escaped injury when the fishing boat they were in capsized on Huntingburg Lake late Wednesday afternoon.

An Indiana Department of Natural Resources officer says Scott Mundy and his son Kade were bowfishing on the south side of the lake, approximately 150 yards from shore shortly after 5 p.m. when their boat began taking on water.

Mundy told police that about an hour after being on the water his son noticed the boat was taking on water. Within a minute the boat was completely underwater

Scott Mundy called 911 and then a conservation officer he knew for help.

Both men were wearing life jackets and made the decision to stay with their boat until help arrived. Neither Scott nor Kade were injured.

Indiana Conservation Officers strongly encourage the use of life jackets while enjoying any activity out on the water.
