Two Arrested After Stealing Motorcycle

Last updated on Friday, May 8, 2015

(SPENCER CO.) - Two men were arrested Wednesday night after an investigation into the theft and sale of a motorcycle.

On Monday, Indiana State Trooper Jeremy Galloway began an investigation into the possible theft of a 1998 BMW motorcycle from Rosetta Allbright.

Allbright asked a friend to retrieve the motorcycle from the home of 48-year-old David Gabberd of Fulda, Allbright's ex-boyfriend. Gabberd informed the friend that the motorcycle and title were both gone, but did not know where they had gone.

After searching impound lots in the surrounding counties, troopers found the motorcycle had been involved in a crash in Huntingburg on May 5, and was in the impound lot at Kars Garage in Huntingburg.

Through Trooper Galloway's investigation, he learned that Gabberd had sold the motorcycle to 38-year-old Nathaniel Walz of Huntingburg.

At the time of the sale, both Gabberd and Walz knew that the motorcycle belonged to Allbright.

Galloway located both Walz and Gabberd at their homes Wednesday evening. They were both arrested and taken to the Spencer County Jail. Gabberd is facing felony charges of criminal conversion, theft, receiving stolen auto parts and a misdemeanor charge of false informing. Walz was charged with felony theft and receiving stolen auto parts.
