Two Arrested After Police Find Meth, Marijuana, Pills

(BEDFORD) - Two people were arrested after Bedford Police were requested to assist the Department of Child Services after the mother of an infant failed a drug screen by testing positive for meth.

Police arrested 23-year-old Julia Jones and 28-year-old Jonathon Bell, who was also at the home at 225 M Street.

DCS removed the child from the home.

According to Bedford Police Chief Dennis Parsley, when officers entered the home with a DCS caseworker at 3:45 p.m. Thursday they found a baggie of meth laying in plain sight.

"There was also a container that had both marijuana and hashish in it," Parsley added. "Officers also found both individuals had Zolpidem pills which they did not have a prescription for."

Zolpidem or Ambien is a sedative used to treat insomnia.

Bell was arrested on charges of possession of meth, possession of meth in the presence of a minor, possession of less than 30 grams of marijuana, possession of hashish, possession of a Schedule IV controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia, neglect of a dependent and maintaining a common nuisance.

Jones is being held without bond she was on probation at the time of this arrest. She is being charged with possession of meth, possession of meth in the presence of a minor, possession of a Schedule IV controlled substance, possession of paraphernalia, neglect of a dependent and maintaining a common nuisance.
