(BEDFORD) - The Third Annual Ugly Duck Derby is Friday 6 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at Thornton Park's John Lowery Pool.

The proceeds from the Ugly Duck Derby benefit the Boys & Girls Club of Lawrence County.

Ducks for this race can be purchased for $5 for 1 duck, 5 for $20, or buy a flock of 13 for $50. Ducks can be purchased at the Bedford Parks Department, the Boys & Girls Club of Lawrence County, Bailey's Flowers, at M & E Honda, or from any duck committee member.

The evening kicks off with the Celebrity Belly Buster Contest at 6 p.m. followed by 10,000 ducks racing down the water slide.

The first duck to cross the finish line will win its owner a 2 year car lease of a 2015 Ford Focus provided by Bedford Ford and Pam and Dale McIntyre. The winner can also choose $3,000 instead of the car lease. In addition to dozens of other prizes, the final duck plucked from the pool is worth a week's stay in Daytona Beach, Florida.

After the first race the finals of the belly Buster contest will be held and an inflatable relay race between members of the Bedford North Lawrence girls and boys basketball teams will take place.

Celebrity Belly Buster contestants are Bedford's own 2014 Colt cheerleader Hannah Yates; the face of The Bedford Half Marathon, Chris Galloway; Girls & Boys Club CPO, Kyle Brown; BNL swim coach Terry Tlustek; Paige Callahan; Gavin Steele; Andy Webb; Ryan Sullivan of Lineal Contracting; Everett Southern of German National Bank; Jesse McKee of Hoosier Hills Credit Union and BNL Teacher Carrie Holmes.

New this year is a race at the end of the night that is limited to just 100 ducks. These ducks cost $100 each.

The winning duck of this race will win their choice of a 2015 4-wheeler from M&E Honda or $3,000 cash.

Food vendors include the Tiger Ear food truck, Orange Leaf and Stonecutters Cafe.
