Spring Mill State Park To Host Heirloom Plant, Seed Exchange Sunday

Last updated on Thursday, May 7, 2015

(MITCHELL) - Bring heirloom plants or seeds from your garden to Spring Mill State Park on May 10 to trade them for starts grown by the park’s Pioneer Village gardener.

The heirloom plant and seed exchange runs from 1 to 4 p.m. in the Pioneer Village Garden.

An heirloom plant is a plant variety that has been cultivated for at least 50 years and is open pollinated. When planted, seeds from heirloom cultivars produce the original plant.

If you have a large garden and lots of plants to trade, call ahead and the park will set up a table for you.

For those with no plants to trade, the village gardener will have plants from the formal garden for sale at the Pioneer Village Mercantile.
