Six Arrested After Orange County Drug Enforcement Units Finds Drugs

(PAOLI) - The Orange County Drug Enforcement Unit, consisting of officers from the Indiana State Police, Orange County Sheriff’s Department and Paoli Police Department, arrested six people while executing a search warrant at 103 Linden Street.

The six were arrested after officer served a search warrant at the home on April 28 and discovered meth, marijuana, controlled substances and drug paraphernalia.

Officers arrested 43-year-old Melissa C. Marks and 18-year-old Lena N. Vaughn, both of Paoli, who were at the home during the search.

Vaughn's one-year-old child was also at the home. Child Protective Services was contacted who informed police Vaughn was not supposed to have custody of the child. Police learned the child had been forcefully removed from the caretaker.

Marks was arrested on charges of dealing marijuana and possession of meth and maintaining a common nuisance.

Vaughn is facing preliminary charges of possession of marijuana, possession of meth, maintaining a common nuisance and child endangerment.

The police also arrested 20-year-old Dillon M. Griffith, 38-year-old William A. Cook Jr. and 31-year-old Chassity F. Brinkworth, all of Paoli and 32-year-old Shamora D. Compton of English on charges of visiting a common nuisance.

Police arrested the six after they received tips and information about possible drug activity at the home. Police would like to thank the citizens of Orange County in helping police with their efforts of keeping the community safe and drug free.
