(UNDATED) - A Monday night pursuit through five counties in Southern Indiana ended with a Louisville man behind bars.
According to an Indiana State Police report, the pursuit began just before 10 p.m. when a State Police dispatcher radioed officers to look for a white Ford Escape that was driving recklessly westbound on Interstate 64 in Crawford County.
Trooper Paul Nanney located the car at the 85 mile marker and attempted to make a traffic stop. That is when the driver continued westbound exiting the interstate in Perry County.
The driver failed to stop for a stop light at the top of the exit ramp and reentered I-64 and continued traveling west at speeds exceeding 100 miles per hour.
Concerned for the safety of other drivers, the trooper terminated the pursuit near the 69 mile maker near Dubois County.
At 10:22 p.m. Trooper Coty Seifert located the driver in the westbound rest park, about two miles east of Dale. The Ford again reentered I-64 and proceeded west at speeds exceeding 100 miles per hour.
Trooper Heath Carkuff had placed tire deflation sticks at the 54 mile maker causing the Ford to slow down.
The vehicle stopped at the 53 mile marker in Warrick County were the driver 31-year-old Paul Embry of Louisville, KY was arrested and taken to the Spencer County Jail on a felony charge of resisting law enforcement with a vehicle.
