(WASHINGTON) - A one-vehicle traffic accident early Sunday morning in southeastern Daviess County sent one person to the hospital and one to jail.

According to a Daviess County Police report, the accident happened at 12:43 a.m. Sunday at the intersection of County Road 800 East and County Road 700 South.

According to police, 35-year-old Daniel Woodall of Washington was traveling south on County Road 800 East and was attempting to make a left turn onto County Road 700 South when his passenger was thrown out of the 1998 Jeep Wrangler, which had no doors on it, from the momentum of the turn.

Police say 31-year-old Derek King of Washington, who police say was intoxicated, suffered a head injury and severe lacerations. He was taken to Daviess Community Hospital and later flown by helicopter to Deaconess Hospital in Evansville.

Deputies arrested Woodall on a charge of operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated causing serious bodily injury. He was released after posting a $2,500 bond.
