"Lest We Forget" To Take Place On Bedford Square

Last updated on Monday, May 25, 2015

(BEDFORD) - Today, from 3-6 p.m., crowds will gather for the fifth annual “Lest We Forget” on the Lawrence County Courthouse Square.

The event will honor the sacrifices of those that fought for our county.

This year's program features the raising of the flag by the Lawrence County Vietnam Veterans Association followed by the classic bugle calls "To The Colors" and Taps.

A cannon will be fired prior to the customary reading of the United States Constitution.

Following the reading, the musical group Scarlet2White will sing a selection of patriotic tunes.

Mark Mathis, organizer of the event, encourages citizens to "bring coolers, blankets and snacks" and enjoy the afternoon with family and friends.
