Farmer's Markets Begin Selling Produce

Last updated on Thursday, May 21, 2015

(BEDFORD) - Local Farmer’s Markets are open and will continued selling fresh produce and other goodies through the growing season.

On Saturday mornings the market is open from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. on the courthouse square. There will be no mid-week market this year due to downtown construction.

Currently there are 25 vendors, but new vendors will be welcome throughout the year says Allison Roodschild, market manager. The market will be open through October.

Some of the fresh produce being sold Saturday will include asparagus, kale, green onions, several varieties of lettuce, mustard greens, rhubarb, and possibly a few other early greens. Several different flower and vegetable plant starts, locally raised beef and pork, fresh eggs, jams and jellies, and homemade bread and pies should also be available.

Several new and returning craft vendors will be selling handcrafted items, jewelry, baby blankets, tie dye, painted signs and woodworking.

Throughout the summer, local nonprofit groups may set up in the host tent to help spread the word about their organization. Interested groups should contact the market to get on the schedule.

Local musicians are also encouraged to get on the performance schedule to become part of the market as well.
