(BEDFORD) - Englewood School will be sold at auction.
The Times-Mail reports that the North Lawrence school board voted to sell the school after they decided the school, on Washington Avenue, was no longer needed for school purposes.
North Lawrence Superintendent Gary Conner says the building is in need of "significant remediation" to remain in compliance with state and federal accessibility requirements and would be too expensive to bring up to those standard. The school board voted last May to close the school.
The school received two appraisals for the property. One is for the the entire property -the building and a parcel of 1.5 wooded acres to the west - for $239,500. And one for 1.5 acres - the wooded area west along 32nd street for $21,500.
Under Indiana law, the winning bid must be at least 90 percent of the appraised value.
