(DAVIESS CO.) - Daviess County Coroner Laura Petty says 55-year-old Lianne Wiscaver of Washington died from drowning in the White River.
Petty says the death is being ruled as an apparent suicide. She believes there's no foul play involved in the death. The coroner's office is waiting on a toxicology report.
Officers from the Indiana Department of Conservation located Wiscaver's body Saturday morning at a little before 9 a.m. Her body was found in the East Fork of the White River about a half mile downstream from the Highway 257 Bridge, known as the Capehart Bridge on the Pike County and Daviess County line.
Wiscaver had been missing since Thursday evening around 5:15 p.m. when Pike County dispatch received a 911 call from a concerned motorist. The motorist had passed a woman standing on the bridge but when they returned to check on her, she was gone.
"The motorist told dispatch he had seen a woman standing on the bridge," Indiana Conservation Officer Joe Haywood said. "He turned around immediately and went back to check on her and she was gone."
Authorities found Wiscaver's vehicle still parked on the south side of the bridge and immediately began looking for her in the East Fork of the White on the Daviess-Pike County line.
The search was suspended because of darkness Thursday night, then resumed Friday morning. Officials used boats with side scanner sonar and conducted dragging operations and there were divers in the water.
Authorities stopped their search again Friday evening, and started again Saturday morning.
According to Times Herald sources, Wiscaver grew up in the area and her brother owned property nearby.
Conservation Officers and the Pike County Sheriff's Office were conducting the recovery and investigation efforts. They are being assisted by the Daviess County Sheriff's Department, State Police, the Jefferson and Harrison Township Fire Departments, Southwest Medical and Pike County EMS.
