(BLOOMINGTON) - An IU student wanted on three counts of armed robbery entered the police station Thursday.

According to Bloomington Police Capt. Joe Qualters, James Dyke knew police were looking for him.

The 19-year-old and another man entered an apartment on December 10 on Bloomington's east side wearing ski masks and armed with semi-automatic handguns.

The three residents inside the apartment were told "get on their knees" and "take out all of their money."

But according to the police report, the suspects only received Chinese currency. The men then held open a trash bag and had the resident place inside three pairs of Air Jordan shoes, their credit cards, a Canon Camera and a $100 Visa gift card.

According to Quarters, police requested information about the stolen gift car and discovered that two hours after the robbery, Dyke allegedly activated the card and attempted to use it at a local CVS Pharmacy.

The next day, Dyke's girlfriend used the card at the Indiana Memorial Union Bookstore. According to police, Dyke asked his girlfriend to purchase items at the bookstore with the gift card because he wanted to use her employee discount to buy Christmas presents for his family.

According to the report, two days after the robbery the Canon camera had been sold at a pawn shop in Indianapolis, two days after the robbery.
