(BLOOMFIELD) - Bloomfield Schools went on lockdown early Tuesday afternoon after a threat was issued through a social media service known as My Big Campus.

After an investigation by multiple law enforcement agencies and more than one school district, the threat was neutralized and the lockdown was lifted.

Superintendent Dan Sichting says at 12:06 p.m., Bloomfield Schools were placed in a lockdown status because the school received an email notification from My Big Campus of a threat. My Big Campus is a social media program that schools who have 1:1 computer programs use as a way of facilitating communication between teacher and student and student to student. The program automatically scans for suicide threats and threats that might be embedded in student messages.

Parents were notified through school-reach about the lockdown between 12:20 to 12:35 p.m.

After investigating, it was found the message was from a former student of Bloomfield and was aimed towards a student still attending school. There was nothing specific in the threat.

The school notified police and officers with the Greene County Sheriff's Department and Bloomfield Police Department immediately responded and the school initiated their school safety protocols.

Officials believed the student that made the threat was attending school in another district and contacted that school to see if that student was there.

Bloomfield police then contacted Jasonville Police who ascertained the student was in no way going to carry out the threat.

Just after 1 p.m., Bloomfield authorities received information that Jasonville Police had the student who made the threat in custody and the lockdown was lifted. Parents were again contacted with a school-reach message stating the lockdown had been lifted.

School officials later received information that the student in custody was not in a position to carry out the threat. Bloomfield Schools are working with My Big Campus to try to eliminate ways so this cannot happen again.

"We were under the impression once the student is no longer enrolled, that they could no longer get access to the account. We will work with My Big Campus to make sure this doesn't happen in the future."
