(BEDFORD) - Bedford Public Library’s Summer Reading Adventure for children up to age 17 starts Monday. It runs through July 28, but children can sign up now at www.bedlib.org.
The Summer Reading Adventure provides rewards for reading. Many special programs and events throughout the summer support the library's effort to keep children reading at grade level.
Upcoming events
June brings the beginning of the Summer Reading Adventure and the Bedford Public Library Summer Reading Festival on June 4 from 4:30-6:30 p.m. in the library parking lot.
The festival provides family fun with games and activities, popcorn, music, a bounce house, a photo booth, music, a firetruck, police officers and more. Everything is provided at no charge. This celebration is the perfect opportunity for families to sign up their children for the Summer Reading Adventure.
Calendars listing more than 20 special events in support of the summer reading program are available at the library. All events are offered at no charge, but some events require registration.
Database updates
The Auto Repair Reference Center, which is available from the library website to anyone who holds a valid Bedford Public Library card, was recently updated to include the latest makes and models of vehicles.
Overdrive downloadable audiobooks now has Overdrive Listen, which makes audiobooks available with one click. No downloading is necessary.
Overdrive also provides Overdrive Read which provides e-books with one click and no downloading. One click listening or reading makes books available on a web browser in an instant.
Downloading is also still available.
Library customers now get more from hoopla, too. Recently added to the movies, television shows and music that customers have been enjoying from hoopla are e-books, comic books, and audiobooks. Instant access, no late fees, and 24/7 availability make hoopla and Overdrive exceptional library services.
