(BEDFORD) - A Bedford man was arrested after police found pills and marijuana in his vehicle after a traffic stop.

On Friday just before 7 p.m. a Lawrence County police officer stopped a black S-10 pickup truck on Sandpit Road driven by 25-year-old Dustin Ross because the license plate was displayed improperly.

Lawrence County Sheriff Mike Branham says a Bedford Police K-9 unit assisted in the stop and alerted police to possible narcotics in the vehicle.

Officers found a smoking device with burned marijuana, a plastic bag that contained a white powdery substance that tested positive for meth and Naprozen pills, which Ross did not have a prescription for.

Ross was arrested on charges of possession of meth, possession of marijuana, a legend drug, drug paraphernalia and maintaining a common nuisance.
