(BLOOMFIELD) - AT&T has expanded 4G LTE coverage to another part of Greene County for area residents, businesses and travelers.

AT&T has upgraded an additional mobile Internet cell site near State Road 45 and County Road 200 East in the south central portion of the county. The expansion is part of its continuing network investment and ongoing AT&T 4G LTE rollout.

AT&T also has enhanced the wireless capacity and performance of its mobile Internet network throughout the Jasonville area. The network enhancement adds a new layer of frequency, also known as a "carrier," to the Jasonville cell site to more efficiently manage available spectrum and increase mobile Internet capacity. The expansion helps manage ever-growing demand for mobile Internet services by allocating more network resources for AT&T's mobile Internet network.

"It's no secret that our citizens are doing more and more every day on their mobile devices," said Jasonville Mayor Roy Terrell, Sr. "From business transactions and online education, to public safety and planting crops, we count on fast and reliable mobile Internet services, so this investment from AT&T is truly welcome."

AT&T has made several additional Greene County network enhancements over the past year. AT&T expanded 4G LTE coverage to Worthington and Switz City earlier this year; and to Bloomfield, Jasonville and Linton last fall. In addition, AT&T expanded Linton mobile Internet wireless capacity in February 2015.

AT&T has invested nearly $2 billion in its wireless and wired networks in Indiana between 2012 through 2014, driving a wide range of upgrades to reliability, coverage, speed and performance for residents and business customers.

"Our goal is for our customers to have an extraordinary experience, and they'll be able to download, upload, stream and game faster than ever before on our 4G LTE network," said Bill Soards, president of AT&T Indiana. "As part of the Greene County communities, we're always looking for new opportunities to provide enhanced coverage, and our investment in the local wireless network is another way we're accomplishing that."

AT&T's 4G Network

This launch is part of AT&T's Project Velocity IP (VIP), a three-year investment plan announced in Fall 2012 to expand and enhance its IP broadband networks. Through this investment, AT&T is supporting its customers' growing desire for high-speed Internet access and new mobile, app and cloud-based services. As part of Project VIP, AT&T plans to add macro cell sites nationwide by year-end 2015, as well as deploy small cells and add Distributed Antenna Systems to increase the density of its wireless network.
