Last updated on Monday, May 4, 2015

(TASWELL) - The abduction of a Warrick County woman Saturday night in Chandler ended Sunday north of Taswell in Crawford County after the suspect allegedly shot his victim and later took his own life.

Around 11 p.m. Saturday night, 36-year-old Tara N. Garland of Chandler was taken at gunpoint outside her Warrick County residence by 45-year-old Bradley R. Sease of Jeffersonville, her former fiance. After Sease abducted Garland, he ordered her to drive to a rural area in Crawford County on Morgan Road, where he continued to hold her at gunpoint.

Around 6 a.m. Sunday, Garland was able to get away from Sease and get into her vehicle to attempt to drive off. Sease fired several shots at the vehicle, striking it twice.

One of the bullets entered the vehicle and traveled through the driver's seat, striking Garland in the back. Garland continued driving, eventually stopping at a residence on Highfill Chapel Road.

She told the resident what happened, who in dialed 911.

Troopers with the Indiana State Police and deputies with the Crawford County Sheriff's Department responded to the area.

After gaining preliminary information about the case, they began to search for Sease. He was located a short time later, near where the vehicle had been parked overnight. He was found dead from what appeared to be a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

Garland was airlifted to University of Louisville Hospital in Louisville, Kentucky, where she is currently listed in serious but stable condition.

This case remains under investigation.
