Last updated on Thursday, May 14, 2015

(BEDFORD) - The 2015 Limestone Heritage Festival Parade will take place on Saturday, July 4th at noon on the Downtown Bedford Square. This is the start of a day of fun-filled activities culminating at night with the annual fireworks display.

The parade committee is looking for float and unit entries.

This year's theme is Patriotic Salute To Lawrence County Heroes. The Grand Marshal will be Lee Hutchinson.

Hutchinson, a World War II veteran, flew nearly 20 missions and was the radio man on a Boeing B-17 Flying Fortress during the war.

A ceremony will mark the beginning of the festival around 11 a.m. at Courthouse Square. Streets will be closed off at that time. The grand marshal ceremony will kick off at the corner of 15th and M street.

Vendors will set up along J Street between 15th and 16th streets. The parade line-up will be begin at 9:30 a.m.

The parade starts at noon at 15th and M streets and will continue down 16th Street, go around the square, down Lincoln Avenue and end on 13th Street.

New this year, floats and units will not be judged during line up, but at the corner of 16th and I street as they pass the Super Oldies 105.5 WQRK announcement booth.

"This way the judges will get the full affect of the entry," says Sarah Reinhard. "Before it was hard for judges to see the float or units at their best because those on the float were not readily available."

Immediately following the parade, awards will be announced and given out at the Harp Commons stage.
