Woman Stabbed While Taking Out Trash

Last updated on Friday, April 3, 2015

(BLOOMINGTON) - Bloomington Police are searching for the person who allegedly attacked a Bloomington woman while she was taking out the trash.

Police went to the south side apartment after receiving a 911 call.

Bloomington Capt. Joe Qualters says there was an enclosure around the dumpster and when the woman entered she found the male inside.

"He was crouched down and perhaps hiding," he added. "The woman was then struck in the back of the head and knocked down."

The woman suffered a stab wound to her lower back.

She told police the man in a green jacket and black face mask ran a block or so east to the B-Line Trail. Police dogs lost his scent there.

"After she was struck and she was still looking back toward the dumpster, she saw it was smoking and thought the individual was responsible for setting at least some sort of a fire there," said Qualters.
