'Viva Paws Vegas' Bone Appetit Is April 25

Last updated on Monday, April 6, 2015

(BEDFORD) - The White River Humane Society is gearing up for the annual Bone Appetit

Administrative Director, Eden Dillman, is busy orchestrating plans for the event April 25 at the Lawrence County 4-H Fairgrounds Expo Hall.

Board members Julie and Sabrina Beaty created the theme for this year's event - "Viva Paws Vegas."

The event will feature a silent auction, live auction, a catered meal, a cash bar, 50/50 raffle and shelter merchandise will be on sale.

Tickets are $20 a person, 4-12 are $10 and those younger are free. Tables for 8 are $160. Tickets can be purchased at the shelter and from any veterinary office.

The WRHS is selling raffle tickets to win a chance on a pair of tickets to the Bone Appetit Viva Paws Vegas.
Tickets cost $1 each or six for $5 and are available at the shelter or any WRHS adoption event. Call (812) 279-2457 for more information. The offer will end April 20.

Eden Dillman, WRHS administrative director, said she and volunteers have been working on the event since December.

"This is our biggest event," she says. "We put a lot of work into it. We want the community to come, enjoy themselves and support us as we continue to make positive changes."

Last year's Bone raised about $22,000 and was attended by 400 people. Auction items have all been donated, so the WRHS gets the full benefit of each sold item. Some of the items up for bid include tickets to theme parks, zoos and museums, gift certificates and overnight stays at area casinos. Country singer Clayton Anderson donated a CD, hat and T-shirt. There are also numerous themed baskets. In the live auction, there are handmade kitty condos and a dog bed made by a local crafter.

Also popular is the 50/50 drawing. In keeping with the Vegas theme, an Elvis impersonator will be in the crowd selling tickets for the drawing.
