Three People Arrested After Traffic Stop

(SEYMOUR) - Three people were arrested after drugs were found inside their vehicle during a traffic stop on I-65 in Seymour.

On Sunday morning around 9 a.m. Indiana State Police Trooper Stephen Wheeles observed a silver 2013 Chevrolet traveling above the posted 70 mph limit south on I-65. Trooper Wheeles caught up to and stopped the Chevrolet.

While speaking with the driver 32-year-old Shawnee Gentry of Chicago, Illinois, he noticed drugs in the vehicle.

His K-9 partner Kane conducted a search of the vehicle and alerted police to the presence of illegal drugs.

During the search police found 332 grams of Heroin with a street value of $40, 000 in the passenger compartment.

Gentry was arrested and transported taken to the Jackson County Jail on felony charges of dealing heroin and possession of heroin.

Her passengers 33-year-old Shanon Straughter of Chicago, Illinois and 37-year-old Steven Woolridge of Richmond, Kentucky are facing felony charges of dealing heroin and possession of heroin. Straughter is also facing a felony charge of identity theft.

Trooper Wheeles were assisted by Indiana State Police Sgt. Brian Wilson.
