(BEDFORD) - Three people are facing charges after police were called responded to a call of a fight.
According to Bedford Police Chief Dennis Parsley, officers received a call at 5:09 a.m. that there was a fight in front of a home in the 400 block of Lincoln Avenue. While in route officers received another call reporting a woman had broken the glass out of a door to a residence and entered the home.
When officers arrived they found 24-year-old Rick Laws, of 412 Lincoln Ave., screaming and yelling.
"He was rolling all over the ground flopping from his front to his back and yelling that meth was melting his legs," Parsley says. "He was out of control. Officers were able to get him in handcuffs, but had to hobble his legs before placing him in the police car for his and the safety of others."
In the meantime, other officers went to the home where the door was busted out.
There they found .26-year-old Megan McLain hiding behind a chair in the livingroom.
"She too was out of control and under the influence of some kind of drug," Parsley added. "She kept mentioning something about two children."
While officers were on the scene Officers then received a call from another woman who was at the IGA Store on Fifth Street.
"Melody Harris had been at the home on Lincoln Avenue and had left with a 6-year-old boy and a 1-year-old girl," Parsley says.
An ambulance was called to check on the conditions of Laws and McClain.
"Because of their levels of intoxication the two were transported to a local hospital for treatment," Parsley says. "Once released they were taken to jail."
The Department of Child Services was called and the two children were placed with a family member.
Lews and McClain were arrested on charges of dealing meth over 10 grams, possession of meth over 10 grams, neglect of a dependant, possession of drug paraphernalia, disorderly conduct and maintaining a common nuisance.
Harris, 40, of Orleans, was cited into court on a charge of visiting a common nuisance.
