(UNDATED) - State police warn about toxic discarded meth lab containers.
In Delaware County, the Pendleton District Meth Suppression Squad found more than 23 plastic bottles used to manufacture meth after driving roads and walking creek and river banks Friday.
Police warn residents that discarded meth lab trash contains chemicals that are toxic, flammable, corrosive, and acidic.
In addition officers found other Meth lab trash, such as stripped lithium batteries and Sudafed pill blister packs.
Troopers warn residents be vigilant while participating in outdoor activities.
If you're out mushroom hunting or fishing, or if your civic group is cleaning a roadside, beware! Things you should look for are discarded backpacks or gym bags; liquid filled plastic drink bottles with white residue; a large amount of discarded coffee filters or discarded liquid drain opener bottles.
If you encounter any of these items, don't disturb them - call police.
Anyone with information about illegal drug use is encouraged to call the the Indiana State Police Drug Tip Line at 1-800-453-4756. Tips can be made and kept anonymous. The Indiana Meth Investigation System or IMIS, can also take tips on meth labs. Just go to www.meth.in.gov and click on the "Report Suspected Meth Activity" Link.
