(BLOOMINGTON) - Shortly after midnight a train collided with the driver's side of a white Audi at the tracks that cross Union Street near 10th Street in Bloomington.

IU students, who live at Eigenmann Hall, saw the accident and called police and rushed to the scene to assist.

When Bloomington Police arrived they found a female passenger sitting on the ground. A male was driving the vehicle and pinned inside.

Police Lt. George Robinson said both were responsive and taken to IU Health Bloomington Hospital.

The investigation is ongoing and a reconstructionist was called to the scene.
