(BEDFORD) - Indiana Habitat for Humanity bicyclists will be riding through Bedford next month during the Cover Indiana bicycle ride.

Cover Indiana is an annual weeklong bicycle tour through Central Indiana. It was created in 2004, by HFH of Indiana to raise money and awareness for the mission of Habitat for Humanity in the state, as well as establish community among the many Habitat affiliates in Indiana.

Riders will depart Lafayette for a weeklong, 380 mile journey that will culminate in Indianapolis. Along the way the group will overnight in churches and a community center. Habitat affiliates in the "overnight" communities will host the party, providing dinner, breakfast the next morning, and a warm, safe place to sleep. Cyclists will be supported by two "SAG" vans that will be available to provide first aid, assistance with flat tires, refreshments, etc. The towns the group will stay in include Crawfordsville, Terre Haute, Linton, Bedford, Ellettsville, and Plainfield.

Cyclist will arrive in Bedford on May 13 and will stay overnight at the First Christian Church campground. The next day they will travel to Ellettsville.

Each weeklong cyclist is required to pay a registration fee of $225; $35 for multi-day riders and $20 to ride a single day. Each rider will then designate the money they raise to a Habitat affiliate of their choice. Those wanting to donate to Lawrence County Habitat for Humanity can send donations to P.O Box 1054, Bedford.

The money raised will help local affiliates build, rehabilitate or weatherize homes for low-income families.

In Lawrence County the group's ReStore at 507 L Street is its primary source of revenue. The store accepts donations of household items and construction materials and sells them to the public.

Riders can register at www.hfhcoverindiana.org or request a registration form by calling (765) 423-4590.
