(CRANE) - Col. Joe Dixon, Crane Army Ammunition Activity commander, joined his Navy counterparts in signing a Team Crane Sexual Assault Awareness and Prevention Month Proclamation April 1 as part of the Crane base's overall effort to prevent sexual assault.

Dixon was joined by Naval Surface Warfare Center, Crane Division, Commanding Officer Capt. Jeffrey Elder and Naval Support Activity Crane Commanding Officer Cmdr. Timothy Craddock in joint signing the document meant to strengthen the resolve of the base's military, civilian employees and families against sexual violence.

The Department of Defense observes SAAPM every April to raise awareness and educate communities on the prevention of sexual violence. The Army's 2015 SAAPM theme is "Not in My Squad. Not in Our Army. We Are Trusted Professionals."

This theme emphasizes the ethical commitment each member of the total Army Family must adopt to ensure every Soldier, Department of the Army Civilian and their Family members are treated with dignity and respect.

Established October 1977, Crane Army Ammunition Activity maintains ordnance professionals and infrastructure in order to receive, store, ship, produce, renovate and demilitarize conventional ammunition, missiles and related components. Crane Army maintains up to one third of the DoD's conventional ammunition inventory. The Activity also provides command oversight of Iowa Army Ammunition Plant, Letterkenny Munitions Center, Pennsylvania, and Milan Army Ammunition Plant, Tennessee.
